The Council wishes to select and appoint a suitable consultant to undertake Site Investigation Works at the Biggins Wood The site is a former brickworks / clay pit, concrete batching plant and, more recently, a landfill.
The landfill was situated in the southern part of the site and was backfilled with construction and demolition waste typically comprising clay with brick, tarmac, clinker and ash.
Importantly the landfill operation was not licenced.
Existing data indicates that the backfill material is up to 7.2 metres thick.
The underlying geology comprises the Gault Formation.
The land is to be redeveloped and will include residential houses as well as some units for industrial, storage, office and commercial purposes.
