Sexual Health is a mandatory area of public health in local authorities.
Most of the adult population of England are sexually active and rapid access to high quality sexual health services improves the health and wellbeing of both individuals and populations, with different interventions and sexual health services required across the life course.
The Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced organisation to provide specialist sexual health services within the County of Buckinghamshire.
The service provision will be divided into 2 lots.
Organisations can tender for one or both lots.
LOT 1 will include both STI and contraception at Levels 1, 2 and 3 with seamless and robust pathway and integration with HIV treatment and care services commissioned by NHS England.
This service will offer clinical governance leadership and a workforce development training and education function for all clinicians across the sexual health system including primary care.
This service will be the central hub for complex/specialist services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and all methods of contraception, including long acting reversible methods (LARC).
LOT 2 will include a Level 1 and 2 service both STI and contraception in outreach locations in line with need, focusing on priority groups for example, young people under 25 years.
The service will provide: ?
An HIV community support service, including support to those living with HIV and access to rapid testing. ?
Management of a chlamydia screening programme for 15 to 24 years ?
Co-ordination of a condom scheme for under 25?s ?
Delivery of a training programme for all professionals working in the sexual health field including an agreed programme of direct work with those groups at higher risk of poor sexual health using evidence based behavioural techniques and tools.
An integrated sexual health service model aims to improve sexual health by providing easy access to services through open access ?one stop shops?, where the majority of sexual health and contraceptive needs can be met at one site, usually by one health professional, in services with extended opening hours and accessible locations, that meet the needs of the population, including taking in to account whether the population is urban or rural.
The contract will be awarded initially for 5 years with a possibility to extend for a further two years, depending on performance and availability of funding.
