The brief

Expressions of interest are sought for design services in respect of ‘The Grange Field Watercourse Restoration’.

The banks of the watercourse in The Grange Field, Bishop’s Cleeve are in parts slipping due to the poor ground conditions, with wet weather exacerbating the situation.

In order to address this and prevent the situation deteriorating, options of remediation have been explored.

The preferred solution is to in essence dispense with the existing watercourse and divert a new channel into The Grange Field (which is public open space owned and maintained by Tewkesbury Borough Council).

The new channel will involve the regeneration of the straightened channel into a natural and meandering watercourse, with associated wetland and wild flower meadow features.

Therefore, whilst some modelling data is available, it is probable it will be necessary to investigate the hydrological and topographical relationship.

It is intended that by applying the appropriate design best practice we will have the potential to remedy the situation, reduce flood risk, improve biodiversity, increase water quality, enhance the local amenity value and make the area a lot easier to maintain.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Environment Agency.

Expressions of interest should be returned no later than 13:00 5th August 2016 either via post or by email to ehenquiries@tewkesbury.gov.uk
